Philly Fashion Week Feb 2014 Recap!

It's that time of year again!  The time where I finally get to post about the previous Philly Fashion Week right before the next one starts!  For some reason it just takes me a while to sort through everything and decide on my favorites!  But since this year I'll only be attending one show, unfortunately, I'll hopefully get the post up in a more timely fashion.  However, I do like to look back at the previous season with the start of a new one!  I think its kind of fun!  So without further ado, here is my look back at PFW February 2014!

One of the things I really love about PFW, besides all of the awesome clothes of course, is meeting new people in the industry who are local including PR people, designers, and fellow bloggers.  I've made many great friends in the past couple of years! Fashion week is somewhat of a reunion!
Me and my fellow blogger gals! Pic Cred to Erika from YCS!

Although PFW isn't nearly as large as NYFW, there's still always a huge turnout!  The venue is always packed to capacity, everyone anxious to see the shows!  In the lobby, there's food, live music and booths full of fun things to look at.
The line-up
Once inside, everyone takes their seats. Now, I've been on both sides of this coin.  The first time I went I was VIP and sat front row.  It was awesome and it made me feel super important haha.  Then the second time, I attended as press.  I wound up first sitting in the second row, but then moved to "the pit" which is where all the photographers set up.  If you've never tried it, runway photography is haarrddd.  Between the movement and the lighting it's almost impossible to get a good shot.  So I pretty much wound up screwing around with my camera most of the time instead of enjoying the show.  To my dismay, I still didn't get many good shots.  But I got a few and some videos of my favorite lines!  The first photo is from Tu Decor, a line by a wonderful woman who I am glad to call my friend!  Her line is sexy and feminine, but still bad ass! Click here to see the last looks! Second is my favorite from the line Suede Square.  The line had some really cool patterns and silhouettes!  The last photo is the finale piece from Dom Streeter's line.  I was particularly excited to see her's, since I was a huge fan from watching her win Project Runway! Philly girl's reppin'! I wish I would have gotten to meet her, but we're mutual on Twitter, so I guess that counts for something! #fangirling.  Besides my excitement, her line was beautiful and full of variety!  See her last looks here!

Last, a fashion week post would not be complete without #OOTN's! For ready to wear, I wen't slightly more casual; For couture, I went a little more fancy!  I kept with a preppy/girly look for both looks!

Lillie Couture {Fashion February}

Hey everyone!

So this post is going to be the kick off to a series of Fashion Week posts! Hurrah!  As you know New York Fashion Week was this past week, February 6-13th.  Also, Philadelphia Fashion Week starts next week! So February is a very busy month for me! But here is the first event of the season for me!  So I hope you enjoy it and be on the look out for more "Fashion February" Posts!!

Lillie Couture Designs

So last Friday I had the honor of being invited to the Lillie Couture Designs Fashion Show!! Lillie Couture is a beautiful label by designer Latasha Hall.  She's a Philly girl, with her Fashion Design degree from our very own Art Institute of Philadelphia!  She says the Lillie girl is "fun, fresh, and effortlessly fashionable."

The Cocktail Hour

When we arrived, there was a small cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, cupcakes, and cocktails.  I got to catch up with my friend Erika of Your Chic is Showing, and hang out with Angela-to whom I owe this invitation and much much more!

The Collection

The collection was a twist on an Alice in Wonderland theme, with enough whimsy and fantasy to go around.  The pieces were intriguing with outstanding fabrics, handcrafted embellishments, and tediously perfected ruffles.  The collection was also styled with themed headpieces and masks, which were absolutely adorable.

I really loved the collection.  I thought it was beautifully made and well thought out.  I also really liked the use of Alice in Wonderland.  She successfully got her inspiration across without it being "costumey" which is difficult to do.  My favorite piece was the white dress in the top photo.  I think any girl could pull that off and the fabric was to die for.  I mean, look at those ruffles!!  I also loved the final dress, which is shown in the center left photo.  It was just breathtaking.  I can't wait to see Latasha's next collection!  She's got a great eye and wonderful ideas!

Here's the last looks video! For more, check out the Lillie Couture website!

TBT: Philly Fashion Week 2013

Hey Everyone!

So I was tromping around through my photos and blog post and I realized I never got to do a full on post for September's Philly Fashion Week! So this post is dedicated to recapping my favorite moments of the Fall 2013 Philly Fashion Week!!

Kick off Party!

So the week started off with the kick off party at Sugar House Casino!  There was hair being done by Tommi Studio, music, drinks, and lots of networking!  It was a great time!

Jewelry/Accessory Show

The first event of the week was the Jewelry and Accessories show at Tommi's.  Angela and I were there representing for the Sylvan's Collection Jewelry line.  We made some good sales and some new contacts!

The Gala

Next up was the PFW Gala! It was set outside the scenic Philadelphia Art Museum where the models used the steps as their runway.  There were tons of gorgeous dress on and off the runway!  I rightfully wore a navy sequin gown! ;)

We even hit up the food trucks parked outside the party!!

Ready to Wear Night

The first night of runway shows was the Ready To Wear Collections.  We got to sit front row, which made me feel really special (haha!).  I took so many pictures that I ran out of room on my camera! But here are my top three favorite looks!

Haute Courture Night

Personally, couture is my favorite.  I feel it allows designers to express them self at the next level.  Without the worry of "can anyone really wear this?"  Again, I filled my memory card with photos.  But here are my top three for this night!

Overall I had a really fantastic experience attending my first Philly Fashion Week!  I'm super excited to hopefully go as press this year to see the other side of the events! So be on the look out for some major bloggage!!

Any questions on the designs you see here or anything I'm wearing, comment and I'll answer! If you're interested in Philly Fashion Week, click here for this seasons schedule! :)

Walk the Talk Event 2013!

This past weekend I had the honor of going to the annual Walk the Talk blogger event at Showroom77 in Center City, Philadelphia!!  The event was hosted by the fabulous Tweetie Elitou of Young Hip Chic and the equally as lovely Syreeta Martin of Sincerely Syreeta.   It was my first time in attendance and I have to say I had a fantastic time!  I brought my good friend Emma as my plus one and I know she had just a great of a time as I did.

As we entered we were greeted with awesome little gift bags, a complimentary pair of shoes from Shoe Republic LA, and a warm welcome from our hosts.

In the bags, we got several different beauty products from brands including Aunt Jackie's Curls and Coils, III Sisters of Nature, and more! In my bag, I received tons of hair products, some key-chains, and a bracelet.

We also got a raffle ticked that entered us to win one of the many prizes provided by the sponsors, which included artwork, jewelry from Chandra Jewelry, gift cards to Top Shelf styling services, and more!!  Throughout the event, the girls called out winners to all of these awesome prizes.  I was lucky enough to win one, a tub of Coconut Shea All Natural Pudding Souffle for the hair from Eden BodyWorks. I can't wait to try it!

Delicious food was served by The Young Cookinista, my favorite being the mini desserts!! I would have eaten them all if I could have! She had a little bit of everything; meatballs, pasta salad, yummy rolls and a fruit platter.

The rest of the evening was filled with good music, networking, and lots of prize winners! I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of wonderful fellow bloggers and fashion industry mavens.  Overall it was a great time and an innovative concept.  I hope to attend the next event in the spring!!  Thanks girls!!
