Fall Trend Report!

Hello friends! I never seem to realize how long it's been since I've posted until I actually log in and see the last post I published! In this case, it's been a little hectic and I've been working on several different things that I hope to bring to you in coming weeks!

With all that aside, I am excited for this post that I've come up with. It's nothing totally innovative, but I kept noticing certain styles popping up on Instagram (my social media platform of choice) and thought I'd curate my own little trend report! I'll link the images to their OP so you can follow these awesome accounts for yourself!

Cosmic Influence

...

I'm getting strong moonchild vibes from a lot of people this fall. Glittering stars and embroidered cosmos are constantly popping up! I've even seen a lot of moons and stars in jewelry styles. The cool thing too is that this trend seems to span a multitude of styles! No longer is cosmic influence reserved for the bohemian hippie chick in you.

All Wrapped Up

...

Wrap dresses and wrap/tie front tops are everywhere when it comes to the more tropical/beachy styles (aka, my style.) I'm personally obsessed with the printed maxis that XIX Palms has been showing off prominently all over IG. Simply stunning! While most of the styles I selected are on that more "endless summer" side, this trend can definitely be translated to a more polished style.

Fuzzy Feelings

...

Return of the floofy jackets! This trend has been making the rounds for a few years now, particularly with bohemian stylistas. Now it seems to be crossing over a little, but on the more subdued side. Even though I, sadly, can't really seem to rock this trend (I look like a really glamorous linebacker) I still love the fun and freedom of a gigantic fuzzy frock. Maybe I'll try the hoodie version!

What Goes Around...

The trend that started it all! I started to notice these little guys all over my feed and throughout my likes. I hadn't even noticed the amount until I went and looked! It seems like all my favorite tropical fashionistas are rocking these tambourine style bags! I personally enjoy the rattan styles, but they are showing in leather styles as well! Definitely a good staple bag to keep around all year long!

Breaking News-boy

Of all of the trends I've listed, this is the one that I went out and bought right away! I love a good hat, and I've been seeing this style all over. It seems to go with just about anything and looks good in a variety of colors, patterns and textures! I got a simple black felt one from Target that looks exactly like the higher end ones that have been circulating! It's an easy trend to get the "look for less" but still be on point! I personally love pairing this more menswear inspired topper with one of those feminine wrap dresses! Bonus points if it's in a tropical print!

Trend Watching at Lincoln Center {Fashion February}

So as I am much aware that today begins our so long awaited March, I'm going to continue with my Fashion February posts, since all of these things actually happened in February! I have been quite the busy bee! As you already know, I had the pleasure of making my way to NYFW this season.  Although I didn't get to see any of the shows inside of Lincoln Center, I did get to trend watch outside!  This has seriously become one of my favorite past times.

This season, it was all about the coats.  Since it was so cold, everyone was wearing one and they were all so unique!  I saw a wide range of styles: preppy, mod, grunge, bohemian, you name it!  I snapped some cool shots of just a few of my favorites! My personal obsession right now is the fur (or faux fur) coats!  They look so luxurious and chic and can pump up any outfit! Also, most girls were wearing their coats in a cape style fashion, simply draped over their shoulders.  I thought that was so classy and feminine!  Definitely something I would try in the future! I also saw a lot of plaid and pastels.  Plaid is always in style, if you ask me, but pastels are beautiful for late winter and perfect for spring! Another thing that is always in style; Leather! Wearing leather in almost any piece is instant rocker chic.  I love the styling in the last three pictures; the girl (fourth row right) working the leather sleeves with lots of bold print and color, the girl with that outstanding lip dress rocking her leather jacket, and also the coordinating trio at the bottom! (Side note: I'm loving that guy's ombre pants!!)  Another thing I saw a lot of was the classic wardrobe staple, the camel colored coat.  Camel goes with pretty much anything and is uber chic, in my opinion.  My girls here paired it with metallics, plaid, and (my personal favorite fourth row left) mixed prints.

 Overall, most people were dressed very fashionably!  I guess people are a little more outlandish in the fall (see my Fall Fashion Week trend-spotting post).  I'm really excited to try out some (or all) of the trends I saw this season and implement them into my personal style!  What I'm most excited about is the pastels!! I'm not kidding when I say excited either.  I absolutely love that chic, luxurious quality that seems to have been floating around recently and I need  to participate in that.  So be on the look out for my attempts.

Speaking of pastel, another lovely pastel thing I got to try was macarons!  I've been dying to try them, since I see them everywhere online, at least once a day.  And also because of Gossip Girl (obviously.)  So I decided to get in touch with my inner Queen B and make my way to the Macaron Cafe!  Can I just say, this was a huge mistake because I'm now officially an addict.  We got a few different flavors to try, including PB&J (my first), passion fruit, Nutella, and apple pie!  They were all amazing and I'm currently on the hunt to find a place in Philly!  (P.S. if you know of any, don't be shy!!)  I also just found out that the Macron Cafe ships nation wide!! Needless to say, I'll be expecting a package soon...

I was definitely channeling Blair Waldorf that day, not only through macarons and tromping around NYC, but in what I wore! Unfortunately, I didn't get a good shot, but you can see my Juicy Couture beret an my aeire sequined polka dot top!  I was also wearing a black Ann Klein coat, Betsey Johnson scarf, Wildfox hoodie, black damask leggings and necklace from Target, and my The North Face snow boots (since of course it had to snow...)  

 So this is just the first half of the day! I also got to do a mini photo shoot at the Snowman NY showroom!  That will be the next post, coming very soon!

NYFW Round 1: Day 2

So the second day of my adventures in New York Fashion Week did not cease to entertain.  Through several blisters, unwarranted heat, and way too much baggage (and I literally mean like two huge bags each) we trekked our way through the city in search of fashion.

Lincoln Center: On the Outside

After the always necessary morning Starbucks Coffee, we made our way to the plaza section of Lincoln Center.  Not knowing where to start, we plopped our bags in a spot where there was shade and lots of fashion action.  There were people everywhere, ranging from fashionistas there to see the shows to fellow bloggers looking for the next big trends.  So I whipped out my camera phone and starting snapping my own personal faves!

Mod Black & White

One trend that stood out to me was the super chic, sleek black & white.  Bold lines in structure and pattern are not only classy but can be refreshingly modern.  These ladies have done it right!

Bring Your Puppy to Work Day

What is pet loving, fashionista/o's favorite accessory? Their dog!  These pampered pups were joining in on all the fashion week fun.  Can you say, Puppy Vogue?!

Sparkle, Baby, Sparkle!

Another great trend that never goes out of style? Lots of sparkle!! These lovely ladies are the perfect example of how girls with any type of style can rock the glitz.   

Man Skirt?

Now I personally don't have a problem with guys wearing skirts.  I mean, do what you want. It's your body, you dress it how you like! However, like anything else, some can rock it, and some well...go a little overboard.  I supposed this could be considered my first Do & Don't! I actually really like the fly fashionisto's outfit (seen left).  The bottom is actually pants with skirted top piece.  Almost like a palazzo pant.  I think he looked pretty chic, and totally rocked the skirt-pants.  As for bachelor number two, I'm just not really sure where to start.  Not only was he pushing the gender boundaries by wearing a skirt in the first place, he just went way over the top rocker for my taste.  The boots, the chains, the hair.  All I can say is, I give this a resounding NO!

So there's just a few picks from the pack of fashionable and not so fashionable people.  Actually, I almost forgot my personal favorite...

What was he thinking? The world may never know...

The Kahri by KahriAnne Kerr Show

While in New York, I had the absolute pleasure of attending KahriAnne Kerr's Kahri S/S 14 runway show. I can honestly say, I would kill to have every piece in my closet! Flushed against a modern white setting, bold lines and pop colors painted the runway.  

 

I particularly liked the updated detail to well known silhouettes.   Kerr added perfectly placed cutouts in unexpected places and a little flounce in all the right places.  The line was a cohesive mix of strong and feminine.  She used structural patterns on otherwise "girly" shaped pieces.  All in all, everything seemed to work splendidly.

Watch the Last Looks!

Along with the days fashions, the hair and makeup brought everything together.  The models' hair were styled in intricate mohawk braids.  The makeup was simple, yet strong with a classic cat-eye liner and bright red lips: a fashionista favorite!

Overall, my first round of NYFW was a success.  I've got a long list of ideas for fall from fashion to makeup to hair to accessories and designers to take inspiration from.  This weekend was truly an experience I will never forget!!
